Origami tutorial

We're getting ready for the Lake Signage Launch on Sunday 7th July by making origami cranes to hang on the Unity Wreath!

Make one too by following this video by our local origami artist, Mel Pinter of Bebe and Ju...

Then bring it along to the launch event and put it forward as a good luck offering to the sign, the lake and the community.

Why origami cranes?

The origami crane is a symbol of peace, unity and hope. It is also associated with good fortune and longevity. These are fitting values for a new town and reflect the community's aspiration for harmony, prosperity and a bright future, making the origami crane a symbolic and meaningful addition to the Unity Lake sign!

We're looking forward to this event to launch local artist Chloe Leaper's signs for two of Northstowe's lakes - you can find out more about the project here.

We're delighted that local dance school Stardust Dance Academy will also be joining us for a beautifully colourful ribbon dance!

With thanks to Homes England for commissioning this project!
